RIO DERVICHEL AT CLOZ IN THE TRENTO PROVINCE

A steel grating designed specifically for covering the Dervichel stream running through Cloz, a characteristic village in the Trento province.
The purpose of this work was to widen and improve the town road, making it safer while safeguarding the environment and protecting the stream. The structure, completely made in galvanised steel, consists of grating of crossed flat bars in different sizes: bearing bar 130x8, cross bar 30x8, and mesh 35x66.

The 130x8 bearing bar rests on a steel frame embedded in the perimeter wall of the Rio, and was designed to bear the excess weight of even the heavy vehicles that run along the road. The special feature of this application was that a curving, sloping grating had to be designed, and therefore subject to different sorts of torsion, particularly when the load is in the middle of the grid. An exceptional piece of work that protects the natural course of the Rio while making the Cloz road far safer and more functional than it had ever been in the past.
